A Four-Session Group Mentor Coaching Series Exploring Presence, Intuition, Discernment, and Emergence

The Series

What happens in the space between?

  • Between speaking and silence.
  • Between words and meaning.
  • Between noticing and responding.
  • Between insight and emergence.

This four-session mentor coaching series invites coaches to slow down and become more attentive to what is already happening in the coaching conversation: the pause, the metaphor, the unexpected noticing, the uncertainty about what to say next.

Rather than adding more techniques, this series invites a disciplined inquiry into what happens in the coaching conversation and what becomes possible when we learn to notice, question, discern, and trust what emerges.

Each session stands on its own and may be attended individually. Together, the four sessions create a developmental arc:

Presence → Meaning → Awareness → Emergence

The series is grounded in the ICF Core Competencies, with particular attention to Competencies 5, 6, 7, and 8. Ethical practice and respect for client autonomy are woven throughout.

Session 2: Listening for Meaning, Imagery & Metaphor

The space between words and meaning

Clients often communicate more than they realize through the images, metaphors, and language they naturally choose. This session explores how coaches can stay close to the client’s language and become curious about what it may reveal without imposing meaning or interpretation.

Practice question:
What is the client’s language revealing, and what might I be assuming about it?

What You Can Expect

Each session combines brief framing, live coaching practice, reflection, and mentor coaching grounded in the ICF Core Competencies.

You’ll practice with a real coaching topic, ideally one you have previously explored in coaching. After a brief reorientation, you’ll move directly into the heart of the coaching rather than recreating the initial coaching agreement.

You’ll have opportunities to:

  • Practice with real coaching topics
  • Receive mentor feedback and observations
  • Explore your own presence, listening, intuition, and discernment
  • Notice what happens in the moments between words, silence, insight, and action
  • Identify ways to carry your learning into your coaching practice

Who This Is For

This is a space to practice bringing together the intuitive and the analytical, the felt and the observable, the creative and the evidence-based. Through disciplined inquiry, you’ll develop a more repeatable way of working with what you notice, remaining open to intuition while staying curious about what you actually know.

This series is designed to support coaches pursuing or renewing an ICF ACC or PCC credential. Coaching practice and mentor feedback will be grounded in the PCC Markers, and eligible mentor coaching hours may be applied toward ICF credentialing or renewal requirements, as applicable to your individual pathway. Sessions may be attended individually, though participation in the full four-session arc is encouraged.
